AC Milan have identified Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy as their top striker target for the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Rossoneri are expected to prioritise signing a new striker after missing out on their targets during the winter transfer window.
The seven-time European champions previously tried to sign Jean-Philippe Mateta from Crystal Palace, but the deal collapsed at the final stage.
Although a fee was agreed upon between the clubs, Milan ultimately pulled out due to concerns over an issue with the player’s knee.
According to reports, Guirassy has now emerged as their leading option as they aim to challenge for the Scudetto next season, with Milan impressed by his experience and consistent goalscoring.
The club had previously tried to sign him during his time at VfB Stuttgart, but were beaten to his signature by Borussia Dortmund.
The 29-year-old has enjoyed an excellent spell at Dortmund, scoring 54 goals from 86 appearances across all competitions, including 16 in the current campaign.
Guirassy is understood to be open to a new challenge in the summer, which boosts Milan’s hopes of finally landing him.
However, he is not the only name on the Rossoneri’s shortlist. The club are also monitoring alternatives, including Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson, who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, as well as Mateo Retegui, who joined Al Qadsiah in the Saudi Pro League last summer.
AC Milan may be reluctant to meet Borussia Dortmund’s asking price given Guirassy’s age, although it is likely that both clubs come to a compromise if the striker pushes for an exit.
