Roma plotting summer swoop for Juventus star Teun Koopmeiners

Roma are hatching a plan to poach Dutch midfielder Teun Koopmeiners from Serie A rivals Juventus.

Koopmeiners made a name for himself at Atalanta, where he enjoyed three largely successful years that saw him build a reputation as one of the most productive attacking midfielders across Europe’s top five leagues.

He consistently delivered the goods at Bergamo, with his peak period coming in that 23/24 season when he produced 22 goal contributions in a campaign that saw Atalanta win the UEFA Europa League.

It was no surprise when Juventus came calling in the summer transfer window that followed that impressive season; however, Koopmeiners has struggled to replicate the form that convinced the Bianconeri to part ways with €60 million to acquire his services.

In 79 appearances across two seasons at Juve, Koopmeiners has managed just seven goals and three assists, a far cry from the numbers he produced while still on the books at Atalanta, and he now finds himself struggling for minutes at the Allianz Arena.

According to Calciomercato, the Dutchman’s situation has alerted potential suitors, with AS Roma, currently under the tutelage of Gian Piero Gasperini, considering a potential move ahead of the summer transfer window.

Koopmeiners flourished under Gasperini at Atalanta, and the Giallorossi are reportedly looking to reunite both player and manager in the hopes of reigniting the impressive run of form that saw him become one of the most sought-after attacking midfield talents in Europe.

Juventus are said to be willing to entertain offers in excess of €30 million for the Netherlands international, who is currently under contract at the Allianz Stadium until the summer of 2029.
