Defending champions Super Falcons of Nigeria will find out their group-stage opponents for the WAFCON 2026 when the official draw is conducted on Thursday.

WAFCON 2026 is expanded tournament for the first time in the competition’s history 16 nations will be placed into the draw, marking an increase of four teams from the previous edition played in 2025.

The draw ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) prepares for an expanded edition of the tournament.

All 16 qualified teams will be placed into four pots for the draw, with seeding determined by the FIFA Women’s World Ranking released on December 11, 2025.

Nigeria and Morocco will be joined by Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia.

Hosts Morocco will headline Group A, with Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa expected to complete the seeded nations, setting the stage for a very competitive group phase.

In addition to the draw, CAF will use the occasion to unveil the winners of the CAF Women’s Coach of the Year and other major women’s football awards.

The football association will also announce the winners of the CAF Women’s Coach of the Year and other outstanding women’s football awards at the draw ceremony.

The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations finals will be staged from 17 March to 3 April, 2026.
