Dele Alli has reportedly lost close to £150,000 over a short period after taking part in repeated late-night poker sessions at a London casino, according to accounts that emerged in the British media in recent days.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and England midfielder is said to have been a regular at The Victoria Casino in central London, where high-stakes cash games run through the night.
Daily Mail reports that the 29-year-old was playing almost every evening, with losses estimated at around £25,000 per night, adding up to the six-figure sum in just a few days.
Alli was reportedly nicknamed a “whale”, a term used in gambling circles to describe a wealthy player who places very large bets and is seen as favourable opposition.
According to some accounts, messages were often circulated among regular players whenever the former Spurs man came to the casino, to notify others of his presence at the table.
The England international has been without a club since leaving Como in 2025, following a short spell in Italy that produced only one competitive appearance.
Since returning to England, he has been training alone while exploring options to revive his playing career.
The former MK Dons prospect was once among the most productive attacking midfielders in the Premier League, scoring for Tottenham between 2015 and 2019 and earning 37 caps for England.
In recent years, however, injuries, lack of match fitness and long absences from competitive football have limited his opportunities.
