Tottenham Hotspur eye Noah Atubolu as potential Guglielmo Vicario replacement

Europa League champions Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu, as they prepare for the possible departure of Guglielmo Vicario at the end of the season.

Vicario arrived at Spurs from Empoli in 2023 as a replacement for Hugo Lloris and has established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

However, he could now be set for a return to Italy, with Inter Milan believed to be leading the race for his signature as they look to replace Yann Sommer.

If the Italian goalkeeper does leave, Tottenham will be forced to strengthen their options, particularly given the struggles of backup goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.

The Czech Republic international has endured a difficult start to life since moving to the club in January 2025 and has struggled for playing time, especially with Vicario as the first-choice.

The 23-year-old made his Champions League debut against Atletico Madrid in Tottenham’s Round of 16 first-leg encounter earlier this month, but lasted only 17 minutes after making two costly errors, with the match ending 5-2 in favour of the Spanish side.

As a result, Tottenham have turned their attention to Atubolu, according to reports from TeamTalk. The 23-year-old has impressed since breaking out at Freiburg and has earned a reputation for his penalty-saving ability and composure on the ball.

He likely leaves Freiburg at the end of the season, although Spurs are expected to face competition from several top European clubs for his signature.

A switch to the Premier League may appeal to the young goalkeeper, but any potential deal could depend on Tottenham’s ability to secure their top-flight status and avoid relegation.
