Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi, who is under contract with Ligue 1 club OGC Nice until June 2027, has requested the termination of his contract via legal commission.
The 26-year-old was brutally attacked by Nice fans in November 2025 after the club’s 3–1 defeat to Lorient. Since the incident, Moffi has been on sick leave for six weeks.
The Nigerian international has now taken legal steps to terminate his contract with the club, filing a complaint with the Professional Football League (PFL). His lawyers have validated the request, citing Articles 51 and 265 of the professional football charter as the legal basis for their action.
The league’s legal committee is expected to review the case on Thursday, January 15 and the discussions will focus on security failures on the night of November 30, that led to the attack of Moffi and Ivory Coast international Jeremie Boga.
It was reported that outside the training ground, some Nice supporters viciously attacked several team members, railing them with insults, spitting, and physical assault.
While the possibility of a full contract termination is the main issue under consideration, reports suggest that Moffi and his team would also be open to further negotiations, including a potential loan move away from the club.
Moffi who joined OGC Nice from FC Lorient in January 2023 on a loan with an obligation to buy, finalizing a €30 million deal that made him Nice’s record signing has one year left on his contract with Nice, but the outcome of the legal review could significantly alter his future as he seeks a resolution following the traumatic incident.
