Super Eagles line up for Iran, Jordan tests in March Amman Tournament

Super Eagles of Nigeria

Nigeria’s senior national team will head to the Middle East next month after confirming participation in a four-nation invitational tournament scheduled to take place in Amman, Jordan, during the March FIFA international window.

The three-time African champions are set to open their campaign against Iran on Friday, March 27, 2026. That fixture will be played at the 17,000-capacity Amman International Stadium, one of two venues selected for the competition.

Later the same day, hosts Jordan will meet Costa Rica at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, which holds more than 60,000 spectators and is expected to host the larger crowd.

Nigeria will return to action on Tuesday, March 31, when they face Jordan at the Amman International Stadium.

On the same evening, Iran and Costa Rica will square off at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium to complete the round of matches.

The tournament offers the Super Eagles a chance to test themselves against varied opposition outside the African continent, with Asian and Central American representation included in the line-up.

It also offers valuable preparation time as international sides continue building their squads ahead of upcoming competitions.

Playing in Amman also introduces the squad to a different football atmosphere, away from the familiar terrain of African qualifiers.

The tournament will also carry added intrigue given Jordan’s historic qualification for the 2026 World Cup, the first in the nation’s history, while Iran are preparing for another appearance on the world’s stage.

Match kick-off times are yet to be announced, with organisers expected to confirm the detailed schedule in the coming days.
