Real Madrid have entered the race to sign AS Roma wing-back Wesley Franca, joining Manchester City in monitoring the highly rated Brazilian.
Los Blancos are believed to be planning ahead at right-back, with uncertainty surrounding Dani Carvajal’s future.
The 34-year-old is nearing the end of his contract, and recent reports from Spain suggest he is unlikely to be handed an extension. Carvajal has already seen his role reduced, with youngster David Jimenez starting recent matches and Trent Alexander-Arnold — who joined Madrid in 2025 — firmly established as first choice.
According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid have identified Wesley as a long-term option to strengthen the position. Head scout Juan Calafat is said to be a strong admirer of the 22-year-old, who has impressed in Serie A with Roma.
The report claims Madrid would be willing to table an offer of around €35 million if Carvajal departs. While Alexander-Arnold remains the undisputed starter and is under contract until 2031, Madrid are keen to add genuine competition in the role.
Federico Valverde has occasionally filled in at right-back, but the Uruguayan is naturally a midfielder.
Wesley has featured 29 times for Roma this season, contributing three goals and one assist. His athleticism, defensive awareness and attacking thrust have attracted attention beyond Spain, with Manchester City also credited with interest.
It is unclear whether Roma would be open to selling the Brazil international, especially given his growing importance to the squad.
Beyond the right-back position, Madrid are also expected to prioritise centre-back reinforcements, with Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba both approaching the end of their contracts.
With multiple defensive reshuffles on the horizon, Wesley’s name could become one of the key storylines of Madrid’s summer transfer business.
