Rangers have reportedly entered the race to sign highly-rated Sunderland youngster Finn Geragusyan, who is also attracting interest from Nottingham Forest and clubs across Europe

The 18-year-old forward has emerged as one of the most sought-after talents in Sunderland’s academy setup, with his contract situation placing several clubs on alert ahead of the summer transfer window.

Geragusyan, who qualifies to represent Armenia internationally, has already received a senior national team call-up for upcoming friendlies.

Despite being a regular for Sunderland’s youth sides, the teenager is yet to make his senior debut, but his rapid development has not gone unnoticed.

Reports suggest Sunderland could face a battle to retain the striker, especially with his current deal set to expire this summer.

Due to his contract situation, clubs outside England could secure his signature for a minimal compensation fee under FIFA regulations, reportedly around €200,000.

This has further intensified interest from European sides, with Rangers now joining the queue alongside Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest.

Rangers’ interest in Geragusyan continues a trend of scouting talent from Sunderland, having previously tracked players like Dan Neil and Romaine Mundle.

However, both moves failed to materialise, and the Scottish giants will be hoping for better success in their pursuit of the promising forward.

Speaking after his Armenia call-up, Geragusyan expressed pride in his progress and hinted at his growing ambitions on the international stage.

“I am so proud of myself and what I have achieved. All my family are very proud,” he said.

With his future uncertain at Sunderland, the coming months could prove decisive as interest in the young striker continues to grow.
