Three of England’s biggest clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea, are all keeping close tabs on Barcelona defender Joules Kounde as they weigh up the possibility of luring the Frenchman away from the Spotify Camp Nou.
Kounde is no stranger to attracting admiring glances from top clubs, but speculations have intensified in recent weeks as the Premier League giants explore defensive reinforcements.
However, the former Sevilla man remains a key part of Barcelona’s defensive setup despite a combination of inconsistent form and recent injury setbacks limiting his involvement for the reigning La Liga champions this season as they battle to retain their crown.
At the same time, Barcelona’s ongoing financial situation continues to influence decision-making in Catalonia, and while there is no active push to sell, recent reports from Mundo Deportivo suggest that a significant offer, potentially in the region of €80 million, could force the Blaugrana to consider a sale.
The Catalan side are expected to strengthen multiple areas of the squad, including central defence and attack, with names such as Julian Alvarez and Alessandro Bastoni linked with potential moves and raising the funds required to facilitate those deals may require a high-value departure.
There is also growing confidence within the squad regarding internal alternatives. Players like Ronald Araujo and Eric Garcia offer flexibility across the backline, while the club’s hierarchy continues ongoing efforts to secure the long-term future of experienced Portuguese full-back Joao Cancelo.
For now, Barcelona are not actively looking to part ways with Kounde. But with multiple top Premier League clubs circling and the Spanish giants potentially needing to sanction some sales before acquiring their summer targets, it’ll be interesting to see how the situation develops as the summer window approaches.
