Paris FC, And Schalke 04 Set To Slug It Out for Edin Dzeko

French Ligue 1 club Paris FC and Bundesliga 2 side Schalke 04 are interested in Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko. The former Manchester City star has been on the move a lot in the last five years. After leaving Inter Milan in 2023, he joined Turkish Super Lig club Fenerbahce. Then, last summer, he moved to Serie A club Fiorentina.

When he joined, he was expected to take up the role of a support striker due to the presence of the younger Moise Kean, who was coming off an impressive 2024/25 campaign.

But it has been a wretched campaign for the club so far, and things have been turned upside down. Despite spending over €90 million on new signings last summer, Fiorentina currently sit 18th in the Serie A, three points away from safety.

Results have been inconsistent, and some players have borne the brunt. Dzeko is one of those, as the 39-year-old is no longer favoured by Pioli’s replacement Paolo Vanoli. However, Dzeko is still hungry for first-team football in Europe and has been weighing up his options.

According to transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, the former Manchester City striker has become a top target for Bundesliga side Schalke 04.

They are currently first in the German second tier and look good to gain promotion to the Bundesliga. Schalke have already opened talks with Dzeko, but they are yet to reach an agreement.

However, the German club is not the only one interested. Dzeko also had admirers in France, with newly-promoted Ligue 1 side Paris FC showing interest. But as things stand, the big Bosnian striker is yet to make a choice.

Dzeko played for Manchester City between 2011 and 2015. He played a key role in their Premier League triumph in the 2011/12 season, scoring 14 goals in 30 appearances.
