Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has said he has tried to convince his international teammates and compatriots, Ademola Lookman and Raphael Onyedika, to join Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray.
Osimhen wants his Super Eagles teammates Ademola Lookman and Raphael Onyedika to consider making the move to Galatasaray this year amid the ongoing January transfer window, as both Lookman and Onyedika have been linked with a move to the Yellow and Reds.
Speaking after Galatasaray’s 1–1 draw with Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, he admitted that he had already tried to convince both players during international duty. All three helped Nigeria win bronze at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
He told Turkish media outlet Habersarikirmizi, “I spoke with [Raphael Onyedika] and [Ademola] Lookman. I explained Galatasaray and Turkey to them in detail — how wonderful a club Galatasaray is and how beautiful a country Turkey is.”
“It would be very good for our club, for the players, and for our fans if they came.
“I’m trying to convince both of them. I’d love for them to come to one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
Galatasaray have been interested in defensive midfielder Onyedika for some time, and while Onyedika was previously linked with a transfer to the Premier League, Galatasaray are now favourites to secure the midfielder’s signature.
Onyedika has been a key figure for his current club, Club Brugge, and he has also been named as one of the top priorities for Galatasaray. Coach Okan Buruk has admired the 24-year-old midfielder for some time, and he would also hope that Osimhen’s informal talks would convince his Super Eagles teammate to make the move.
Lookman’s situation is a bit different, as the forward is said to be open to leaving Atalanta after two summer transfer windows in which he failed to get a move away from the Serie A side.
