Newcastle United are considering a move to sign Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Garcia ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Magpies are expected to prioritise a new centre-forward once the summer transfer window opens, as they look for a long-term replacement for Alexander Isak, who joined Liverpool in a British-record £125 million deal last summer.

Nick Woltemade, who arrived from Stuttgart in a club-record £69 million move, made a bright start but has struggled badly since the turn of the year and could even consider an exit amid concerns over his recent role at the club.

Meanwhile, Yoane Wissa, who also joined last summer, has been hampered by injuries and inconsistent form, managing just three goals across all competitions.

According to reports from TeamTalk, Garcia has now emerged as a serious target for Newcastle as they look to strengthen their attack for the future.

The 22-year-old is believed to be open to leaving Real Madrid in search of regular playing time, especially as he looks to boost his chances of earning a senior national team call-up with Spain, after being overlooked due to limited opportunities at club level.

Garcia enjoyed a remarkable outing at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, where he finished as the tournament’s top scorer and earned a place in the Team of the Tournament.

However, despite that promise, he has struggled for game time due to the intense competition for spots at the Spanish giants.

Arsenal are also monitoring the situation as they are keen on addressing their attacking issues ahead of next season and would provide serious competition in the race for the young forward.

Garcia could prefer a move to Newcastle, particularly with Eddie Howe’s track record of developing young players.

However, any deal may prove complicated, with Newcastle likely to push for a permanent transfer while Real Madrid may prefer a loan deal.
