Arsenal are on the verge of winning the Premier League title, and the man who has been pulling the strings in the background is now attracting attention from three of Europe’s most ambitious clubs.
Andrea Berta joined Arsenal as sporting director in March 2025, arriving from Atletico Madrid, where he spent nearly 12 years building one of the most efficiently run squads in European football.
His fingerprints are on the signings of Jan Oblak, Antoine Griezmann, Rodri, Marcos Llorente and Julian Alvarez, among others.
At Arsenal, his first summer window delivered Viktor Gyokeres, Piero Hincapie and a squad depth that has carried Mikel Arteta’s side to the brink of a historic quadruple. The football world has noticed.
Per Footmercato, AS Monaco, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City have all registered interest in Berta ahead of the summer, each club drawn to him for different reasons.
Monaco needs a recruitment chief and are ready to fill a gap at the top of their technical structure, which they are keen to fill with someone of Berta’s pedigree.
Bayern already have Max Eberl and Christoph Freund in senior roles, but are understood to be exploring whether Berta could come in above them in an expanded hierarchy.
City’s interest is more contingent, tied directly to whether Pep Guardiola stays or goes at the end of the season.
If Guardiola leaves, a full structural overhaul is expected, and Berta is considered one of the names on Hugo Viana’s list of people he would want alongside him.
