Tottenham Hotspur assistant coach Bruno Saltor has confirmed that Mathys Tel picked up an injury during their 3-0 Premier League loss to Nottingham Forest.
Spurs endured a damaging afternoon at home, with the defeat leaving them just one point above the relegation zone.
Tel, who was one of Tottenham’s brighter performers on an otherwise disappointing day, was forced off in the second half after appearing to struggle physically.
The French forward left the pitch gingerly and was replaced by Randal Kolo Muani, raising concerns over his availability for upcoming fixtures.
“We are still assessing and will see if he can go with the national team,” Bruno said after the match.
There were also concerns when Micky van de Ven was taken off at half-time, but Bruno clarified that the decision was purely tactical.
“It was a sub with the intention to give more dynamic on the left side, it was tactical,” he explained.
Similarly, the withdrawal of Djed Spence was not injury-related, with the coaching staff opting for changes to improve the team’s attacking output.
The heavy defeat compounds Tottenham’s struggles, with the North London side now sitting 17th in the table following Nottingham Forest’s victory.
With momentum slipping, Spurs will be hoping Tel’s injury is not serious as they look to avoid being dragged deeper into the relegation battle.
