Manchester United make Mount decision ahead of summer transfer window

Manchester United have reached a firm decision on the future of Mason Mount, despite growing interest from fellow Premier League sides ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to Football Insider, both Aston Villa and Fulham are monitoring Mount’s situation as they look to strengthen their midfield options.

However, United are said to have no intention of entertaining offers for the 27-year-old playmaker.

Mount’s time at Old Trafford has been far from straightforward. The England international arrived from Chelsea in July 2023 in a deal worth £55 million, a fee that raised eyebrows but was backed by his reputation as one of the Premier League’s most consistent midfielders during his Stamford Bridge spell.

Expectations were high. Yet injuries have disrupted his momentum over the past two-and-a-half seasons, limiting his ability to establish rhythm and continuity in United’s starting XI.

Under former manager Erik ten Hag, Mount struggled to find a sustained run in the side, but he has reportedly played a more defined role under current boss Ruben Amorim.

Even so, fitness setbacks have again hampered his campaign. Mount has managed just 906 minutes across 19 appearances in the 2025/26 season, highlighting the stop-start nature of his involvement.

Despite those struggles, Mount’s stock remains relatively high within Premier League circles.

At Aston Villa, manager Unai Emery is known to value technically sharp, tactically flexible midfielders capable of operating between the lines.

Mount’s ability to play as a No.10, advanced No.8 or wide playmaker would align neatly with that profile.

Fulham’s interest is equally understandable. The Cottagers are aiming to consolidate their top-half ambitions, and uncertainty surrounding Harry Wilson’s long-term future has created space for potential reinforcement in creative areas.

For both clubs, Mount would represent a proven English talent with Champions League and international pedigree, provided he can rediscover peak fitness.

However, Manchester United’s position appears unequivocal. Despite speculation linking Mount with a possible exit, the club are reportedly unwilling to consider offers this summer.

The decision contradicts recent rumours suggesting United could be open to trimming their squad as part of a wider rebuild.
