Manchester United and Liverpool are set to face a setback in their midfield plans after Khéphren Thuram moved closer to committing his long-term future to Juventus.
The French midfielder, who joined the Turin club from OGC Nice in July 2024, has become a regular part of Juventus’ midfield this season.
Interest from England has been in place for some time. Manchester United have followed Thuram since his Ligue 1 days with the INEOS-owned club. Liverpool also tracked the 24-year-old during their recent midfield rebuild, adding his name to a list of options watched across Serie A and Ligue 1.
Those approaches have not progressed into formal offers, with Juventus maintaining a firm stance. Transfer correspondent with TEAMtalk, Graeme Bailey reports that the club’s officials have held discussions to extend his stay beyond the terms agreed at the point of his move.
The Italian side considers the midfielder part of a group they are not looking to sell, and discussions over fresh terms have moved ahead in recent weeks.
On the pitch, Thuram has featured across domestic and European competitions this season, making 32 appearances in all competitions.
At the international level, the French midfielder has remained in contention since making his senior debut in 2023. His club form has kept him in view for selection ahead of upcoming international windows, with national team staff continuing to track his minutes and role in Turin.
For Manchester United and Liverpool, though, the latest developments suggest he is off the table.
