Manchester United Eyeing Adam Wharton And Elliot Anderson

Off the back of Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Manchester City in one of the Premier League’s derbies, the club are set to get busy in the transfer market.

The club’s midfield problems have been evident since Erik Ten Hag’s tenure at Old Trafford, and if anything, Ruben Amorim worsened the situation by playing Bruno Fernandes in a deeper role. However, a respite could be on the cards.

According to Football Insider, the Red Devils are currently monitoring two English midfielders in Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.

Anderson is having a breakout campaign in what has been a tumultuous season for Forest and their fans, as they’ve had three managers in charge of the team. Still, Anderson’s ability on and off the ball has impressed many this season. He’s adept with his passing, energetic when out of possession, and has been tipped to make a big move in the summer.

Crystal Palace have confirmed they’ll part ways with manager Oliver Glasner at the end of the season, and some of the players have been on alert about their future, especially with Marc Guehi joining Manchester City.

Wharton experienced a meteoric rise under Glasner, and with the Austrian coach exiting Selhurst Park, the 21-year-old could follow suit.

As per the report, United plan to wait until the summer before making any moves, especially since a permanent role isn’t in the works for Carrick. The club want to make sure their next coach will align with the players they want to sign.

The three-time UEFA Champions League winners are desperate to finish as high up the Premier League table as they can, and while they cannot whip up the transfer fees for these players mid-season, conversations are ongoing about a potential loan deal with the option to buy included.

However, it is highly unlikely Crystal Palace or Nottingham Forest will part ways with their key midfielders in the January transfer window.
