Premier League heavyweights Manchester United are exploring a move to sign highly-rated Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Archie Gray during the summer transfer window.
The versatile midfielder has caught the attention of several top European clubs following an impressive season, standing out as one of Spurs’ few positives during a difficult campaign that has seen the club battle for survival in the Premier League.
Gray, who joined Tottenham from Leeds United after coming through their academy, was initially deployed as a centre-back in his debut season due to the club’s injury struggles.
However, he has since settled into his natural midfield role, where he has featured regularly this season.
The 20-year-old has made 32 appearances across all competitions, including 21 in the Premier League, as his influence continues to grow in the team despite his young age.
According to reports from TeamTalk, Manchester United are the latest club to show concrete interest in signing Gray ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils are expected to strengthen their midfield in the summer, especially with Brazilian midfielder Casemiro set to depart when his contract expires at the end of the season.
While the three-time European champions have other options on their shortlist, they are believed to also value Gray’s versatility, with his ability to operate both in midfield and across the backline seen as a major asset, especially in dealing with injuries and squad rotation.
However, they are not alone in the race, with German side Borussia Dortmund and Premier League rivals Chelsea and Aston Villa, also believed to be monitoring his situation closely.
Tottenham’s top-flight status at the end of the season would certainly play a role in making a deal happen, as a potential relegation might force them to consider offers for some of their key players, including Gray.
