Manchester City explore deal to re-sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro

Premier League giants Manchester City are considering a move to bring Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro back to the Etihad Stadium ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Spanish international was initially signed by the Cityzens for a fee of around £11 million from Girona in 2019. However, he never made a competitive appearance for the club and instead spent his entire time out on loan.

The 26-year-old first moved to Real Valladolid before completing a two-year loan move to Sporting Lisbon in 2022.

The Portuguese club activated the option for a permanent purchase in the summer of 2022, ending Porro’s spell at Manchester City, although he sealed a return to England a few months later when he joined Tottenham in January 2023.

Since arriving in North London, Porro has developed into one of Premier League’s standout players in his position and played a key role in their success in the 2025 Europa League final, helping the club to a 1-0 win over Manchester United.

Manchester City are expected to strengthen the right side of their defence after the departure of Kyle Walker left a noticeable gap in the squad.

Midfielder Matheus Nunes has filled in at right-back most times, but the club are keen to bring in a natural option before the start of next season.

Pep Guardiola’s side had previously explored the possibility of a move for Tino Livramento of Newcastle United, but recent reports from TeamTalk suggest Porro has now emerged as another serious option.

The Spanish defender would welcome a return to City as it would give him another opportunity to prove himself at the club.

Meanwhile, Tottenham could find themselves under pressure to sell if they were to suffer relegation, although City would still be expected to pay a significant transfer fee to secure his services.
