Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed the latest Manchester City injury news. According to the Spaniard, Phil Foden is available for selection ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash away at Bodo/Glimt, while Nico Gonzalez will miss the clash.
The Cityzens head to Norway in search of their fifth win of the European season as they hope to strengthen their grip on the automatic places for the knockout rounds.
However, Guardiola would be without some important members of the squad for the important match. January additions Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi are unavailable for selection as they are ineligible, while Gonzalez remains sidelined with injury. Foden, meanwhile, was named in the travelling squad putting him in contention to play a part in the match.
The England international was withdrawn at halftime of last weekend’s derby defeat to Manchester United after injuring his hand, but has been included in the travelling squad for today’s encounter. The 25-year-old has already scored twice in the Champions League this season and his availability would add extra attacking threat for the side.
“He has a little bit broken his bones but he has protection and he’s fine for tomorrow”, Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference in quotes revealed by the Manchester City website.
Gonzalez, on the other hand, has failed to recover in time for the match and did not travel with the squad. The Spanish midfielder has been a key member of the team since joining a year ago, but was absent for the defeat at Old Trafford last weekend. He could make his return to action in the Cityzens next league match against Wolves next weekend.
Pep Guardiola’s men are fifth on the UCL league phase standings with 13 points from their first six matches. A win in Norway could secure their place in the automatic spots for the Round of 16, before they round up league phase action against Galatasaray next week at the Etihad Stadium.
