Manchester City Close in On Deal to Sign Crystal Palace Defender Marc Guehi

Manchester City are advancing in talks to secure the signature of Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi. Pep Guardiola’s side are understood to have reportedly made a contract proposal for the England international in the last 12 hours and are preparing to formally open negotiations with Crystal Palace over a potential mid-season move.

Guehi has less than six months remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park, making him an attractive target for several European heavyweights, and he was even close to joining defending Premier League champions Liverpool last summer, but the move collapsed late in the window after Palace failed to secure a suitable replacement before the deadline

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, writing on X, has revealed that Manchester City’s move for Guehi is progressing well, with club-to-club discussions expected to follow imminently. The serial league winning side are keen to bolster their defensive options as they chase success on multiple fronts in the second half of the season.

Guehi has no shortage of suitors ahead of his contract expiry at Selhurst Park, with other European teams Arsenal, Liverpool and Bayern Munich all targeting the defender.

Since joining Palace from Chelsea in the summer of 2021, the England international has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most reliable defenders. He has made 188 appearances for the Eagles, scoring 11 goals, and captained the side to FA Cup and Community Shield triumphs last season.

He led the London side to FA Cup and Community Shield triumphs last season and has remained a key member of the squad despite the uncertainty surrounding his future at the club.

Guehi has missed only one Premier League game for Palace in 2025/26 and has contributed four goal involvements in 20 appearances, third highest for Crystal Palace this season.
