Liverpool step up pursuit of highly-rated AS Monaco forward Akliouche

Premier League champions Liverpool are weighing up a move for AS Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche ahead of the summer transfer window, as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season.

The Reds are expected to focus on strengthening their frontline, especially with Mohamed Salah set to bring his nine-year stay at the club to a close after agreeing to leave at the end of the season.

The Egyptian forward has been the focal point of Liverpool’s attack for several years, consistently delivering goals and leading from the front.

While his departure will leave a big gap, the Reds are keen to find a long-term replacement who can help maintain their attacking threat.

Although interest remains in RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande and Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, Akliouche has now emerged as another key target on Liverpool’s shortlist, according to reports.

The French forward has been in the spotlight since breaking into the first team at Monaco as a teenager in 2021.

He has since developed into an important figure for the club, registering 23 goals in 133 appearances across all competitions.

Akliouche primarily plays as a right winger, and his style of play makes him a natural fit to fill the void Salah would leave. Meanwhile, his versatility across the front line could also be a major asset for the club.

Liverpool may not have a clear run at the 24-year-old, with league rivals Manchester United also interested as they pursue attacking reinforcements of their own.

Monaco are believed to value Akliouche at around £61 million and would be open to negotiating a deal with Liverpool. If an agreement can be reached, the Reds would be securing a quality and long-term successor to Salah.
