Liverpool face a tricky away trip to AFC Bournemouth ahead of their return to Premier League action this weekend and the latest Liverpool injury news have it that the Reds are heading into this clash with a number of fitness concerns as well as potential absentees according to latest updates.
The reigning Premier League champions were 3-0 winners in their UEFA Champions League clash against Marseille at the Stade Velodrome on Wednesday. They will now be looking to carry that momentum into the league where they are currently on a run of four consecutive draws.
As Liverpool seek to return to winning ways in the English top flight, they will have to make do without a number of key players including Alexander Isak, Federico Chiesa, Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate.
Arne Slot excluded Konate from the Liverpool squad that dispatched Marseille in the Champions League a few days ago. However, this exclusion was not as a result of any injury, rather, he missed out due to a personal matter (the passing of his father Hamady).
Konate had been Slot’s preferred centre-back pairing alongside Virgil van Dijk all season long but the Reds coped very well in his absence on Wednesday with versatile Englishman Joe Gomez stepping in to fill the void and helping the team to a clean sheet in Marseille.
Further up the pitch, Liverpool will miss center forward Alexander Isak, who is likely to be on the sidelines until the end of March after suffering a fracture to his leg in a Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur at the start of January.
Isak has yet to really hit the ground running since dramatically forcing his way out of Newcastle United to join the Reds last summer and yet another spell on the sidelines at Anfield is a big disappointment for both club and player.
Federico Chiesa, meanwhile didn’t feature against Marseille and will need some assessments to determine whether he will be fit enough to contribute against the Cherries. Liverpool are also without Conor Bradley who suffered a serious injury against Arsenal a couple of weeks ago.
