In the latest Liverpool injury news update, Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that Alexander Isak, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni will all miss this weekend’s Premier League meeting with Burnley.
The Reds host the Clarets at Anfield on Saturday as they look to continue their unbeaten streak, but will be without the injured trio who are set for extended spells on the sidelines.
Isak arrived at the Premier League champions for a British-record fee of £125 million last summer, but the Swedish forward has endured a frustrating campaign amid struggles with form and fitness.
The 26-year-old has made only 10 appearances in the league this season, scoring twice. However, he suffered a leg fracture during a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in December following a challenge from Micky Van de Ven and is expected to be sidelined for several months, with no clear return date.
Leoni, who also joined Liverpool from Parma during last summer’s spending spree, suffered a season-ending injury on his debut. The young defender was stretchered off in the 78th minute of the EFL Cup win over Southampton last September, before subsequent reports confirmed he had suffered a torn cruciate ligament in his left knee.
Bradley’s season has also been cut short after he underwent knee surgery in midweek. He went down with the injury during Liverpool’s goalless draw at league leaders Arsenal earlier in the month.
The Northern Irish defender had struck the woodwork in the first half of the clash, before going down injured in stoppage time.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference as quoted on Liverpoolfc.com, Slot provided updates on the team and confirmed publicly for the first time that Bradley and Leoni will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
“Yes, we’ve got a few injuries. We’ve got Giovanni Leoni out for the season, we’ve got Conor Bradley out for the season and Alexander Isak out for multiple months. But for the rest I think everyone is available”, the Liverpool boss stated.
Liverpool host Burnley on Saturday, hoping for a victory to extend their 11-game unbeaten run. The Reds have enjoyed a strong turnaround after a difficult spell earlier in the season, during which they suffered nine defeats in 12 matches between October and November.
The Premier League champions needed a 95th minute penalty kick from Mohamed Salah to defeat the Clarets in the reverse fixture, but a win against them this time around would strengthen their position in the top four and increase the gap between them and the chasing pack.
