Premier League champions Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to sign Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
The six-time European champions are expected to undergo a major squad rebuild this summer after a difficult campaign, as they aim to get back to challenging for major honours and strengthening the defence is very high on their list.
There is also uncertainty surrounding the future of Ibrahima Konate, who could depart when his contract expires at the end of the campaign, while captain Virgil van Dijk will be entering the final year of his deal this summer.
With that in mind, the Reds have been exploring several options to reinforce their defence, including RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba and Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer.
According to reports from TeamTalk, Liverpool have now added Senesi to their shortlist ahead of his expected departure from Bournemouth.
Since joining the Cherries from Dutch club Feyenoord in 2022, the Argentine defender has developed into one of their most reliable performers, making 121 appearances across all competitions, including 32 so far this season.
At 28, he offers both experience and familiarity with the Premier League, making him a perfect option for the Reds, especially with the possibility of Konate’s exit.
However, Liverpool are not the only club interested in the 28-year-old. Barcelona are believed to be leading the chase, with Senesi reportedly keen on a move to the Spanish giants, although Liverpool could boost their chances if they secure Champions League qualification at the end of the season.
For now, Senesi remains focused on finishing the season strongly and pushing for a place in Argentina’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, before making a decision on his future this summer.
