Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has opened up on the contrasting styles of Everton boss David Moyes and former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, highlighting how the Scottish tactician has helped elevate his game.

The English midfielder, who previously worked under Maresca at Chelsea after rising through the ranks at Leicester City, is now enjoying a new lease of life at Goodison Park.

Speaking about the two managers, Dewsbury-Hall revealed that Moyes adopts a more direct and result-oriented approach compared to Maresca’s structured, possession-based style.

“(Moyes) is a bit more like: let’s get the win, let’s be aggressive, let’s play forward,” he said in quotes revealed by Everton News.

The 27-year-old noted that while Maresca focused heavily on controlling possession, Moyes encourages a more attacking mindset, even if it means seeing less of the ball.

Dewsbury-Hall also credited Moyes for giving him the freedom to express himself across different areas of the pitch.

“He has given me a lot of freedom to play… I don’t feel restricted to one thing,” he added.

The midfielder explained that he is now able to drop deep to dictate play, while also pushing forward to contribute goals and assists, something that has improved his all-around game.

Since joining Everton, Dewsbury-Hall has also adapted to a more advanced No.10 role, having previously operated mainly as a box-to-box midfielder.

“I’m enjoying it a lot… I can create chances and score goals, but I like to be involved as much as possible,” he said.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, with the former Leicester man emerging as one of Everton’s standout players this season.

With his current form, Dewsbury-Hall is now pushing for an England call-up, underlining the impact Moyes’ system has had on his development.
