Joao Neves has agreed to a new contract extension at Paris Saint-Germain, committing his future to the club until 2030, according to renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The 21-year-old joined the French champions from Benfica in the summer of 2024 in a deal worth up to £60 million.
The move also made him the fifth-most expensive departure in the history of the Portuguese club, behind Joao Felix, Enzo Fernandez, Darwin Nunez and Ruben Dias.
Neves quickly became a key figure at PSG under Luis Enrique, forming a formidable midfield trio alongside fellow Portuguese international Vitinha and Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz.
Despite his young age, the Portuguese midfielder’s influence grew at the club, and he went on to make 59 appearances across all competitions in his debut campaign, scoring seven goals.
He also helped the French club to an unprecedented sextuple win, including their first-ever UEFA Champions League triumph.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Premier League side Manchester United among several clubs monitoring his situation.
The English club previously tried to sign him from Benfica in 2024, but were beaten to his signature by PSG.
The Red Devils reignited their interest and had identified Neves as a potential midfield reinforcement for the summer transfer window, but will now have to move on to other targets as they look to replace Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, who is set to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
With Neves’ future now secured, his focus will turn to helping PSG defend their European and domestic titles and possibly challenge for another treble.
