Manchester United are reportedly keeping a close eye on emerging Serie A talent Jesus Rodriguez as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils are expected to enter the market for a natural left winger after a season in which a lack of width has often been evident.
Since stepping in as interim manager, Michael Carrick has favoured a system featuring a back four and wide forwards supporting the central striker.
United’s current squad has been left short on natural wingers following the departures of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho.
While the likes of Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo are solid options on the right flank, that left-hand side is still lacking.
Man United have already been linked with several Premier League-based options, including Anthony Gordon of Newcastle United FC and Iliman Ndiaye at Everton FC.
However, both clubs are expected to demand significant transfer fees, prompting the Red Devils to broaden their search across Europe.
According to recent reports from AS, Rodriguez has now emerged as one of the more intriguing alternatives.
The 20-year-old Spaniard has impressed since joining Como from Real Betis last summer, quickly establishing himself as one of the most exciting young attackers in the Italian top flight.
Across 18 starts in all competitions, the Spain Under-21 international has contributed three goals and eight assists, including seven assists in Serie A.
His attacking output has been complemented by exceptional dribbling numbers, ranking among the league’s best for successful take-ons and chances created.
Primarily operating from the left wing but capable of playing on the right or as a No.10, Rodriguez’s versatility could make him an appealing option for United as they look to bolster their attacking options for next season.
Como signed the Seville-born forward for around €22.5 million, but his rapid rise means any potential suitor may now have to pay significantly more to secure his services.
