Brentford striker Igor Thiago has signed a new long-term contract at the club until 2031, with the option of an additional year, according to reports from The Athletic.
The Brazilian forward joined the Bees in a then club-record £30 million fee in July 2024 after impressing at Belgian side Club Brugge.
He arrived on a five-year deal as a long-term replacement for England striker Ivan Toney, who later completed a move to Saudi Arabia.
Thiago’s debut Premier League campaign was disrupted by injury, as he struggled to recover from a knee injury suffered during pre-season, which limited him to only eight appearances in the league.
However, the 24-year-old has enjoyed a massive turnaround this season and has netted 17 times from 26 Premier League games so far, with only Manchester City’s Erling Haaland ahead of him in the golden boot race.
Thiago’s goals have moved Brentford into the race for a first-ever European qualification, as they currently sit seventh on the standings, just five points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
The Brazilian’s outstanding form earned him the Premier League player of the month award for November 2025 after scoring five times from four appearances, becoming the first Brentford player in history to win the award.
The 24-year-old also scored twice in a 3-0 win against Sunderland last month, surpassing the 15-goal mark set by Roberto Firmino, Gabriel Martinelli and Matheus Cunha, to become the highest-scoring Brazilian in a single Premier League season.
With his future now settled, Thiago will turn his attention to maintaining his red-hot form as he pushes for a first call-up to the Brazil national team and a possible spot in their squad for the upcoming World Cup.
