Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has reportedly made his position clear on Marcus Rashford’s future as the Blaugrana consider reinforcement plans for their attack beyond the current season.
Rashford joined the Catalan giants on loan from Manchester United earlier in the campaign, and the England international has grown into an influential figure in Flick’s attacking setup.
What initially appeared to be a short-term arrangement has now prompted discussions within the club about making the move permanent.
The 28-year-old forward’s pace and versatility across the front line have reportedly impressed the German tactician, who believes Rashford fits naturally into the style of football he is trying to implement at the Spotify Camp Nou.
Despite that, a final decision has yet to be made within Barcelona’s hierarchy.
Sporting director Deco is understood to be exploring other potential options for the left wing ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window as the club evaluates how best to strengthen the squad.
Among the players being monitored is Pedro Neto, whose performances have attracted attention from several top European clubs in recent seasons.
However, reports from The Touchline suggest Flick has made it clear internally that if Barcelona are to reinforce the left side of their attack, his preference would be to retain Rashford rather than pursue alternative targets.
Barcelona are believed to hold a strong position in any potential negotiations thanks to a purchase clause included in Rashford’s loan agreement.
The Catalan club can reportedly secure the forward’s permanent signing for around €30 million if they choose to activate the option at the end of the season.
