Ryan Gravenberch has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with Liverpool, committing his future to the club with a fresh six-year deal that will keep him at Anfield until the summer of 2032.
The 23-year-old midfielder has been rewarded after emerging as one of the most influential figures in the side under head coach Arne Slot.
His previous contract still had two years remaining, but Liverpool moved quickly to secure the Dutch international’s long-term future.
Since arriving from FC Bayern Munich in 2023 for a fee understood to be around £34 million, Gravenberch has gone on to make 123 appearances for the Merseyside club.
His development over the past two seasons has convinced Liverpool’s hierarchy that he is central to the club’s plan.
Speaking after signing the new agreement, Gravenberch said extending his stay was an easy decision.
“I’m really proud to extend my contract at such a big club,” he said. “I’m happy that I can stay here for many more years.
“I felt that trust from the club and from the manager. My family is happy here, and we’ve settled well. After nearly three years, it already feels like home.”
Gravenberch’s Liverpool career did not get off to a flying start after he arrived from Germany. Opportunities were hard to come by, and he struggled to secure his place in the starting line-up.
However, his form dramatically came to life once Slot deployed him deeper in midfield. The switch impacted his influence on the pitch and allowed the Dutchman to dictate play and bring balance to Liverpool’s midfield.
The move proved decisive during Liverpool’s triumphant 2024-25 campaign when the club lifted the Premier League title.
Gravenberch missed only one league match that season, and his performances earned him the competition’s Young Player of the Season award.
There is a growing belief that Gravenberch is only beginning to reach his peak. The renewal and length of his new contract sends a message of confidence in the player at the club.
Looking ahead, attention will now turn to the futures of several of his midfield teammates. Contracts for Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai both run until 2028, while Curtis Jones is entering the final year of his current deal.
