Fulham revive pursuit of Ricardo Pepi after failed January move

Fulham have reopened talks with Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven over a potential summer move for USMNT striker Ricardo Pepi, following a failed attempt to sign him during the winter transfer window.

According to TeamTalk, the Cottagers want to begin negotiations early to secure their top attacking target and avoid competition from other interested clubs in the summer.

Despite having multiple bids rejected during the January transfer window, Fulham pushed to complete the deal and reached a €37 million agreement with PSV to purchase the striker.

However, the move collapsed late on transfer deadline day after the Dutch club pulled the plug on the deal, having failed to secure a suitable replacement in time, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Pepi joined PSV from German club Augsburg in 2023 and has been favoured as the club’s first-choice striker, helping them to two consecutive Eredivisie titles. The 23-year-old has scored 11 times from 22 appearances across all competitions this season, although he has been sidelined since last month with a forearm fracture.

Fulham see Pepi as a long-term replacement for Mexican striker Raul Jimenez and believes he would provide suitable competition for Rodrigo Muniz, who has been unavailable for selection since November.

The 23-year-old is understood to be open to a move to Fulham, and the transfer could be completed before the end of the season. However, the clubs must first resolve details regarding the payment structure, while PSV also have enough time to find a suitable replacement.
