Eddie Howe Calls for Patience On Transfers Amid Injury Concerns at Newcastle

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has urged supporters to remain patient over any potential transfer moves in the January transfer window, as the club deals with growing injury challenges.

The Magpies were hit with another injury blow during their penalty shootout win over Bournemouth in the FA Cup third round last weekend, as right-back Tino Livramento limped off in the second half.

Newcastle United injury woes continue

Eddie Howe’s side have been hit with multiple injury problems over the past few weeks, casting doubts over their challenge for trophies this season.

The Magpies currently have about six senior players out injured, with Livramento becoming the latest to be sidelined after going off against the Cherries.

Center-back Fabian Schar was also stretchered off in the dramatic 4-3 win over Leeds United earlier in the month, adding to their growing list which also includes the likes of Dan Burn, Emil Krafth, Jamaal Lascelles and Kieran Trippier.

Newcastle United conceded six times in their last two matches – the same number they had conceded over the five games before that. They managed to win both games, but the impact of these absentees were greatly felt.

Eddie Howe calls for calm ahead of Manchester City clash

Newcastle United continue the defense of their Carabao Cup title in the last four of the competition, with a home first leg clash against Manchester City on Tuesday night.

Eddie Howe guided the club to a historic triumph last season, when they defeated Liverpool 2-1 in the final to win their first domestic title in 70 years.

Speaking ahead of the clash, the Englishman said: “We will wait and see. We need to know the full extent of the injury and then we will have to make decisions based on other injuries and timescales and returns and of course, the transfer window plays into that.”

The Magpies welcome the Cityzens to St James’ Park on Tuesday night for the first leg of their semifinal tie, with the return leg scheduled to take place at the Etihad Stadium on February 4.
