Oliver Glasner – Crystal Palace Board To Make Key Decision

English Premier League club Crystal Palace have decided against sacking Oliver Glasner despite his outburst on Saturday, when he openly criticized the club.

Crystal Palace have been in the news for all the wrong reasons the past two weeks. Last week, they lost to sixth-tier Macclesfield in what was the biggest shocker in the history of the FA Cup. Then, yesterday, they fell to another loss to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

During the post-match press conference, the Austrian tactician was visibly frustrated, and he openly criticized the club’s hierarchy. Glasner was disappointed by the decision to sell Marc Guehi, who has been the club’s best defender for the past two years.

Following the incident, there were speculations that the former Eintracht Frankfurt man could be dismissed. Recall that former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim was sacked for a similar reason a few weeks ago.

However, according to English football reporter Alex Crook, the club has decided against parting ways with Glasner, at least for now. But there is still no guarantee that he will stay there until the end of the season.

Last week, the former Eintracht Frankfurt coach informed the club that he will not sign an extension when his current deal expires at the end of the season. Glasner believes that Crystal Palace are not as ambitious as he would like, so he is looking to get a bigger job.

The Austrian coach has been linked with several top jobs in Europe in the past year. Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Juventus have been touted as potential destinations, but none of them has approached him yet.

Crystal Palace currently sit 13th in the Premier League, picking 28 points from 22 games. Despite their recent struggles, Glasner should be able to guide them to a respectable finish at the end of the season.
