Chelsea star Cole Palmer is reportedly not enjoying life at Stamford Bridge, with Manchester City and Manchester United monitoring his situation.
The 23-year-old joined Chelsea in September 2023 from Manchester City. Since the switch, he has scored over 40 goals in 81 appearances for the Blues and has been central to their campaigns in the last two seasons.
In recent weeks, the Manchester City academy graduate has missed several matches due to injury, and sources have said that he has found life in London challenging. The England international who made his senior debut with Manchester City in 2020 is understood to want to return to his northern roots, and both Manchester clubs are aware of the situation.
Manchester City could offer him a return to the club where he started, while Manchester United may appeal to Palmer’s boyhood connection to the Red Devils.
There has not been any confirmation by Chelsea, but the club is understood to be ready for whatever happens. Chelsea are also said to be scouting other forwards, which could influence their decision if Palmer decides to leave.
Both Manchester clubs are keeping an eye on the development should Chelsea open talks. City have reportedly monitored Palmer’s progress since he left the club for London, and United could see the transfer as a chance to add the gifted forward to their struggling team.
As it stands, Palmer’s Stamford Bridge future is uncertain. Chelsea may want to keep him until at least the end of the 2025/26 season, but sources say the decision could be made in the coming weeks.
