Brazilian midfielder Casemiro is keen to continue playing in Europe as he prepares to leave Manchester United at the end of the season.
The Red Devils confirmed that they will part ways with the 34-year-old midfielder last month, after deciding not to activate the one-year extension in his contract ahead of a major summer overhaul.
Casemiro moved to Old Trafford in 2022 in a deal worth up to £70 million under former manager Erik Ten Hag. Since then, he has been a key figure in the squad and is one of the team’s most reliable and consistent performers.
One of his standout moments came in the 2023 EFL Cup final when he scored the opener in a 2-0 win over Newcastle United to help end the club’s six-year wait for a major trophy.
According to The Sun, Casemiro would prefer to stay in Europe despite interest from Major League Soccer and Saudi Arabia.
Italian giants AC Milan have emerged as a strong contender for his signature, which could see him reunite with former teammate Luka Modric.
The two enjoyed a successful stay together at Real Madrid, forming part of a legendary midfield that dominated and won multiple UEFA Champions League titles.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are already drawing up plans to replace the Brazilian as we earlier reported and have been linked with several midfielders as the club prepares for a very busy summer.
Until his future is resolved, Casemiro will remain focused on finishing the season strongly with the Red Devils as they push for a return to the Champions League, while keeping himself in top condition ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
