Barcelona target Chelsea forward Pedro Neto as alternative to Marcus Rashford

Spanish champions Barcelona are considering a move for Chelsea winger Pedro Neto as a potential alternative if they fail to secure the permanent signing of Marcus Rashford from Manchester United.

Rashford joined the Catalan giants on a season-long loan last summer, with an option to make the move permanent for around €30 million.

The England international has impressed since the move, registering 10 goals and 13 assists across all competitions this season, and Barcelona had initially planned to activate the purchase option before the end of the campaign due to his strong performances.

However, the deal has reportedly stalled due to financial constraints as Barcelona are trying to negotiate a lower fee for the transfer.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are unwilling to renegotiate and are firm on their €30 million valuation, which could ultimately put the transfer at risk.

As a result, the five-time European champions are already exploring alternative options ahead of the summer transfer window and have identified Neto as a possible target, according to Tribal Football.

The Portuguese winger joined Chelsea in 2024 from Wolverhampton Wanderers and has enjoyed a solid campaign this season, netting 10 times and providing seven assists across all competitions.

Barcelona are believed to admire Neto’s versatility in attack. The 26-year-old is capable of playing on either wing and can also operate in an attacking midfield role, adding an extra advantage to the team.

If a permanent deal for Rashford cannot be reached, Neto could become a realistic alternative.

The move would appeal to the winger, although Barcelona would still need to negotiate terms with Chelsea if they decide to pursue the transfer this summer.
