Atletico Madrid have renewed their push to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson ahead of the summer transfer window, with the Spanish side reopening talks after an earlier move failed in the January window.
The La Liga side made Ederson a target in January and pushed the negotiations until the closing stages of the window, but no agreement was reached with the Serie A club before the deadline.
Atletico eventually stepped back late in the process, yet reports indicate that internal discussions at the Metropolitano never closed the door on the Brazilian, which has led to fresh contact in recent weeks.
Atalanta remain calm over the situation, as the 26-year-old is under contract until June 2027. Club sources have previously indicated a preference to hold talks for a summer exit as opposed to a mid-season departure, even after approaches from other clubs across Europe.
Ederson’s camp are also aware of the interest and have not dismissed the possibility of a move if an agreement is reached between the clubs.
Financial terms remain the main points of the discussion. Atalanta’s value has dropped to €30-40 million, down from earlier, higher demands.
Atletico are understood to have explored a deal in that range, including bonuses, though the Italian club have yet to formally accept any offer.
Juventus have reportedly monitored the situation closely, while Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Galatasaray have all been linked with enquiries at different points of the season.
