Three-time UEFA Europa League winners Atletico Madrid are set to complete their fourth sale of the winter transfer window by moving Giacomo Raspadori to Atalanta.
Javi Galan, Conor Gallagher, and Carlos Martin have already walked out the door at the Wanda Metropolitano, and Raspadori, who has been linked with a return to Italy since the early days of December, is set to follow suit.
After initially turning AS Roma down a few days ago, the Italian has given the green light to Atalanta, and a move is set to go through in the coming days.
As per Football Espana, the strong relationship between Atletico and Atalanta, off the back of deals for Matteo Ruggeri and Juan Musso, sped up negotiations for the 25-year-old striker.
Away from the clubs, Raffaele Palladino’s side have agreed personal terms with the former Napoli forward. In all, the deal is expected to be worth around €23m, with an extra €2m available in variables.
Raspadori arrived in Bergamo, Italy, earlier today, and immediately told the reporters on ground that he’s delighted to be back home while citing the opportunity to play for a club with big ambitions.
Atalanta brought in Raffaele Palladino to replace Ivan Juric in November 2025 after the Croatian tactician fell out with Ademola Lookman. Palladino has now applauded the Atalanta board for backing him in the transfer market by completing the deal for Raspadori.
“He is a great player who completes our attacking line and raises the level of the squad. I have always liked him a lot, and the club, which is very ambitious, managed to bring him here,” the 41-year-old manager said.
15 days into the winter transfer window, Diego Simeone’s side have raked in over €63m (Connor Gallagher cost €44m, while Raspadori’s total package should bring in around €25m).
Raspadori’s arrival will boost Atalanta’s attack. La Dea are currently 7th in the Serie A, with 31 points from 20 games. They’re four points behind Cesc Fabregas’ high-flying Como.
While a title challenge is out of reach for the one-time UEFA Europa League winners, the arrival of the former Napoli man should help in Atalanta’s quest for the top four.
