Aston Villa’s Rogers set for agency switch ahead of summer with CAA Base in talks

Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers is reportedly set to change his representatives this summer, with his family in talks with CAA Base over a move away from his current agency, Footwork.

Rogers, 23, has been one of the standout players in the Premier League this season, registering 16 goal contributions across all competitions for Villa.

He extended his contract at Villa Park until 2031 last year, but the agency switch signals that he and his family are preparing for a move and want a more connected representation to get it done.

CAA Base is one of English football’s most powerful agencies. They represent Eberechi Eze, Patrick Dorgu, and Rogers’ close friend Cole Palmer, with whom he came through Manchester City’s academy as a teenager before both moved on to make their names elsewhere.

It is understood that the connection to Palmer is partly what drew Rogers and his family toward CAA Base, and Chelsea are fully aware of that, viewing Palmer as a potential lever to get their man to Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United, however, are the club pushing hardest. Interim manager Michael Carrick wants Rogers as part of a midfield rebuild this summer, with Casemiro leaving and Bruno Fernandes’ future at Old Trafford far from certain.

United’s ideal scenario, per Football Transfers, is to pair Rogers with Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, which would represent a combined outlay of around £200 million given that both clubs have set asking prices in excess of £100 million.

That is serious money, and Villa have no intention of making it easy for anyone. Unai Emery built his side around Rogers, and losing him would force a significant rethink at a club still eyeing consistent Champions League qualification as their baseline.
