Mikel Arteta has provided the latest Arsenal injury news and according to the Spaniard Arsenal could get an injury boost ahead of their Premier League trip to Nottingham Forest this weekend.
The Spaniard, whose side is currently top of the Premier League, are currently without three key first team players, Riccardo Calafiori, Piero Hincapie, Cristhian Mosquera, plus young attacker Max Dowman.
The Gunners were able to avoid any fresh injury crisis on Wednesday night as they beat Chelsea 3-2 in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final at Stamford Bridge, with William Saliba and Leandro Trossard both starting after shaking off injuries that saw them miss the FA Cup tie against Portsmouth.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday at the Sobha Realty Training Centre, Arteta delivered a seemingly positive update after confirming there were no fresh injury concerns following the Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg triumph at Chelsea.
When asked if Arsenal were expecting any players back this weekend, the Arsenal boss replied, “They might be, I need to meet the medical staff to see if any can be.”
However, Riccardo Calafiori is unlikely to be back as ahead of the Saturday trip to Nottingham Forest, Arteta indicated the full-back was facing a long term injury that would see him on the sidelines for a few more weeks with a muscular issue.
The Italian defender had an issue during warmup before the 2-1 win over Brighton in late December and was forced to withdraw from the starting XI.
Centre-back Mosquera is also understood to have made good progress in recovery after he suffered an ankle issue back in December.
Meanwhile, Hincapie pulled up during the second half of the goalless draw against Liverpool with a suspected hamstring issue, he has been undergoing scans on the problem but Arsenal are yet to determine how long the Ecuadorian will be sidelined for.
