Arsenal and Chelsea have held talks with representatives of Atlético Madrid striker Julian Álvarez, with the Argentine’s future in Spain becoming uncertain.
The former Manchester City forward, who moved to Wanda Metropolitano in August 2024 for a reported €95 million, has attracted interest from both London clubs as they look to strengthen their attack.
Sources indicate that discussions with the representatives of the 25-year-old have been ongoing. Atlético Madrid, under Diego Simeone, have maintained that they are not actively looking to sell, responding to increasing speculation in recent months about the forward’s uncertain future.
Arsenal are said to be monitoring the situation closely, with the North London club considering Álvarez as a potential solution to add firepower up front as they continue to build under manager Mikel Arteta. Chelsea, for their part, have also joined the conversation, and are looking to add the Argentine to their squad.
The striker has made a good start to his career at Atlético, scoring goals in La Liga and the Champions League. At Manchester City, he won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, a UEFA Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Reports suggest that a Premier League return remains on the table if Atlético are open to a transfer, with Arsenal and Chelsea monitoring the situation. Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly tracking the forward. Atlético are understood to place a high valuation on Álvarez, with fees reportedly around €150 million.
