The future of Alexis Mac Allister at Liverpool FC has come under fresh scrutiny after his father dismissed reports of ongoing contract negotiations with the Premier League club.
Liverpool’s midfield has recently attracted attention from Real Madrid, with several players reportedly on the Spanish giants’ radar.
Earlier in the season, Hungarian international Dominik Szoboszlai was linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
However, the interest has not been limited to him, with Mac Allister also emerging as a potential target for the La Liga powerhouse.
Speaking about the situation, Mac Allister’s father, Carlos Mac Allister, insisted there are currently no discussions underway with Liverpool regarding a new deal.
“There are no negotiations with Liverpool to renew the contract,” Carlos said during an interview with Win Win.
His comments come shortly after fellow Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch reportedly agreed a contract extension with the club.
Mac Allister, alongside Szoboszlai and Gravenberch, has formed a key part of Liverpool’s midfield unit this season.
However, Gravenberch’s renewal and Liverpool’s strong belief in Szoboszlai have fuelled speculation about Mac Allister’s long-term role within the squad.
Despite the rumours, the Argentine international remains tied to the club until 2028, having joined Liverpool from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2023.
The growing speculation has inevitably linked Mac Allister with a potential move to Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants are believed to be evaluating options to refresh their midfield, particularly with uncertainty surrounding the future of Eduardo Camavinga, who could reportedly be made available for transfer at the end of the season.
For now, Carlos Mac Allister has stressed that his son remains happy at Liverpool.
However, with Real Madrid reportedly keeping close tabs on the Argentine’s situation, the upcoming summer transfer window could prove decisive in determining whether Mac Allister remains at Anfield or becomes the latest midfielder to move to the Spanish capital.
