Mason, Keane and Pochettino among candidates to replace Tudor as Tottenham plan for summer

Igor Tudor’s position at Tottenham is becoming increasingly untenable, and the club are now actively drawing up a list of candidates to replace him, either before the season ends or in the summer.

Four straight defeats since his appointment in February, including a 5-2 hammering at Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night, have left the hierarchy with serious doubts about whether the Croatian can keep the club in the Premier League.

Tottenham sit 17th, one point above the relegation zone, and have not won a league game all year.

The defeat in Madrid, where goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky was substituted after just 17 minutes following two costly errors, and Spurs found themselves four goals down inside 22, was their sixth consecutive loss across all competitions, a first in the club’s history.

According to talkSPORT, Ryan Mason is one option being considered for an immediate appointment. The 34-year-old has served as caretaker at Spurs twice before, in 2021 and 2023, and knows the club inside out.

His most recent stint in management at West Brom did not go well, ending in the sack after seven months, but familiarity and availability make him an attractive option in a crisis.

A report by Givemesport also indicates that serial Premier League manager Sean Dyche and former Spurs striker, currently in charge of Ferencvaros in Hungary, would be willing to take the job.

Keane had been linked with the position after Thomas Frank’s dismissal, but ultimately missed out.

Pochettino and Roberto De Zerbi are understood to be at the top of the club’s permanent shortlist.

Pochettino, who remains under contract as USMNT manager until the World Cup ends in July, has not ruled out a return to north London, and sources say he would even consider the job in the Championship if relegation came to pass. De Zerbi left Marseille earlier this month and is already being courted by several clubs.

Both are a significant upgrade on anything Tottenham have put in the dugout this season.
