Newcastle and Arsenal join race for Feyenoord winger Hadj-Moussa as Dutch club demand €35m

Anis Hadj-Moussa

Anis Hadj-Moussa has become one of the most tracked wingers in European football ahead of the summer window, and Newcastle United and Arsenal are in the mix for his signature.

The 24-year-old Paris-born Algerian came through RC Lens’s academy before dropping down to Belgian football, where he worked his way up from the lower divisions through Charleroi and Patro Eisden Maasmechelen.

A loan at Vitesse Arnhem in early 2024 turned enough heads to convince Feyenoord to sign him permanently that summer on a five-year deal, and he has not looked back since.

Left-footed and operating from the right, he cuts inside constantly, creates space off the dribble and has registered six goals and four assists in the Eredivisie this season.

Newcastle scouts watched him closely during Feyenoord’s Europa League trip to face Real Betis, according to SportsBoom, and Arsenal, Chelsea and Aston Villa have all been monitoring him as well.

Newcastle’s interest is driven by a specific need. Eddie Howe has been without a left-footed right winger since Miguel Almiron left the club, and neither Jacob Murphy nor summer signing Anthony Elanga has filled that role convincingly. HadjMoussa is understood to fit the profile well.

Arsenal’s case is slightly different. Their priority in the summer is the left flank rather than the right, but HadjMoussa’s ability to play on either side gives him a versatility that has kept the Gunners engaged.

His contract runs until 2030, the club have received no formal bids, and they have made clear that €35 million is where any conversation starts.
