Newcastle United are considering a summer move for Sporting Lisbon striker Luis Suarez as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season.
The Colombian forward only joined the Portuguese champions last summer from UD Almeria as a replacement for Victor Gyokeres, who left for Arsenal and could also be on his way out after just a season.
The 28-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable debut campaign in Portugal, scoring 31 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions, including a stunning brace in the 2-1 win over European champions Paris Saint-Germain during the UEFA Champions League group phase.
Suarez’s outstanding performances have attracted interest, and reports suggest that he could join Premier League side Newcastle United in the summer.
The Magpies are expected to enter the market for extra firepower despite spending heavily on attacking players last summer, with deals for Nick Woltemade, Anthony Elanga and Yoane Wissa.
Woltemade made a promising start after his move from VfB Stuttgart, but has struggled in recent months and has not scored in the Premier League since December 2025.
Elanga has also struggled for consistency, while Wissa has endured an injury-hit debut campaign at St James’ Park, leaving the club to search for more quality as they look to improve their attacking output next season.
As we reported earlier, they have also been linked with a move for England international Dominic Solanke, who could also arrive from Tottenham Hotspur.
Suarez remains under contract at Sporting Lisbon until 2030. Still, it is believed the striker would welcome a move to the Premier League if the right offer arrives, allowing him to test himself in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
