Eintracht Frankfurt defender Nnamdi Collins has downplayed reports linking him with a potential move to the Premier League, insisting he is happy at his current club.
The 22-year-old Germany international has recently been linked with top English clubs including Liverpool FC and Arsenal FC, with speculation suggesting he could be keen on taking the next step in his career by moving to England.
However, Collins has now dismissed those rumours, revealing that he was surprised to see the reports circulating in the media.
“It actually bounces off me pretty well. I’m reading these rumors for the first time myself, which is why I’m partly surprised,” Collins said in quotes revealed by Liverpool News.
“I’m very happy to be here at Eintracht.”
Despite his response, Frankfurt reportedly value the young defender at around €60 million, underlining his growing reputation in European football.
Interest in Collins comes at a time when Liverpool FC are facing uncertainty in central defence.
Club captain Virgil van Dijk is entering the final year of his contract, while Joe Gomez could potentially be moved on despite having a deal running until 2027.
Meanwhile, Ibrahima Konaté is also attracting significant interest from Real Madrid CF and could become a free agent this summer if negotiations over a new contract fail to progress.
Reports in Spain claim Madrid are even prepared to offer Konaté a $17 million signing-on bonus should he join the Spanish giants on a free transfer.
Liverpool have already started addressing their defensive depth over the last two transfer windows.
The club signed young Italian defender Giovanni Leoni last summer and also secured a deal for French centre-back Jérémy Jacquet, who is set to arrive at Anfield this summer.
However, both players have suffered injury setbacks this season. Leoni picked up a season-ending knee injury on his Liverpool debut in September, while Jacquet recently underwent shoulder surgery after an injury sustained in February.
Liverpool were also keen on signing Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace FC last summer, but ultimately lost out after Manchester City FC secured the England international during the January transfer window.
With the club continuing to monitor defensive reinforcements, Collins remains one of several names linked with a potential move to Anfield.
However, the Frankfurt defender has made it clear he is currently focused on his role in Germany.
