AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has dismissed growing speculations linking him with the Real Madrid job amid Los Blancos’ current struggles under the tutelage of inexperienced Spanish manager Alvaro Arbeloa.

Real Madrid were the envy of several top clubs across Europe when they poached the services of Xabi Alonso, one of the most brilliant young managers in the world, from Bayer Leverkusen last summer.

However, after 232 days at the helm that produced 24 wins, 4 draws and 6 defeats, Los Blancos surprisingly ended what was initially expected to be a long-term project with the former Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Liverpool midfielder.

Following Alonso’s departure, another former Real Madrid player, Arbeloa, took charge of affairs at the Santiago Bernabeu, but his reign so far has left so much to be desired.

While Real’s record of eight wins and four losses is not so bad, it’s been their general performance levels in games that has called for concern.

According to rumours in Spain, there are increasing doubts about the long-term involvement of Arbeloa within the Real Madrid hierarchy, who are reportedly now stepping up efforts to identify potential replacements ahead of next season.

One of such names currently doing the rounds is that of Allegri, but the experienced Italian boss has come out to pour cold water on the rumours, insisting that he’s happy at Mila,n where his contract runs until the summer of 2027.

Allegri currently has AC Milan second in Serie A and on course to qualify for the UEFA Champions League after missing out on this season’s edition of the competition due to their disappointing eighth-place finish last week.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, are trailing arch rivals Barcelona at the summit of La Liga, having played an extra game. All eyes will be on their performance in the first leg of their crunch UCL round of 16 tie against Manchester City later this week.
