Manchester United are interested in signing Marcus Tavernier from Bournemouth when the summer transfer window opens, according to reports from Daily Mail.
The former England youth international joined the Cherries from Middlesbrough in 2022 and has impressed for the club whenever he has been available.
The 26-year-old has scored six goals and provided four assists from 26 appearances across all competitions this season, underlining his importance to Andoni Iraola’s setup.
Manchester United are expected to make several changes to their squad this summer after a run of disappointing campaigns and have now added Tavernier to their list of targets as they look to strengthen ahead of next season and challenge for trophies.
The Red Devils last lifted a major trophy in 2024 when they defeated Manchester City 2-1 in the FA Cup final.
They also reached the final of the 2025 Europa League, but were defeated by Tottenham Hotspur and will be eager to return to winning ways in the coming season.
Manchester United are believed to admire Tavernier’s versatility, as he can operate in attacking midfield as well as across both flanks and his ability to play on the left wing could help solve one of the club’s current issues in that position.
However, the three-time European champions are also exploring other options for the left-wing role and as per earlier reports, they are monitoring Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon and RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.
Bournemouth have already lost several key players in recent times and are not in a rush to sell Tavernier, who is under contract at the club until 2029, although a move could still happen if Manchester United meet their valuation.
